You asked, Lutron listened.
Prior to this, we were proud to offer 2 Lutron Home Control systems: the entry level Lutron Caseta Wireless system, allowing homeowners to simplify and save time, energy and money by controlling up to 49 devices throughout their home via their smartphone or tablet, or, for those that wanted a more robust system, Lutron's RadioRA 2 Home Control System, which allowed homeowners to control up to 190 devices, but admittedly, this option comes at a significantly higher price tag. The old adage you get what you pay for certainly applies, but this did leave a gap in the market, one that Lutron has filled, and we couldn't be more excited.
Introducing: RA2 Select
RA2 Select is a step down from it's predecessor, RadioRA 2, but far more advanced than Caseta, and it comes at a far more palatable price point that it's big brother, while still providing homeowners a bevy of home control bells and whistles to allow them to simplify their home and their life, all while still providing the slick, clean look we have come to expect, and simultaneously love, from Lutron.
If you have been waiting to take the home control plunge, now is definitely the time. An onsite consultation with one of our Certified Lutron Home Control Experts can show you just how big of a difference a well designed home control system will make in your home, and your life. Let's chat.
Skip the frustration and use your custom shades daily with no effort, even in hard to reach places.
There are so many reasons that custom, motorized shades by Lutron are the right answer. They are stylish, functional, have endless options when it comes to fabrics, but for me, one of the most appealing features is that they can be controlled by my smart phone and remote. Why is this so appealing? Well, besides the obvious answer, that you can control them via smart phone or remote...you can have them in hard to reach places and still operate them with ease, as much as you like! Check out the video below for a live demonstration to shed some light, (pun intended!) on exactly what I'm talking about.

Integrate your Sonos speakers with your Lutron Caseta home control system to take your smart home to the next level.
As an avid music lover, I knew that when planning my office renovation I had to make sure music was part of the plan. I knew I could stream music from my computer, but I'm not a fan of ads and I don't find it overly reliable. I also knew that I could just download a radio app on my phone, but I use my phone for business calls so that didn't seem overly practical. Then I found out about Sonos speakers...then I found out that they integrated with Lutron Caseta's home control system, which was already part of my lighting control plan for my new office...Perfect...

Create your perfect outdoor space with custom lighting so you can enjoy your outside space as much as you enjoy your inside space.
With spring on its way, (I hope!) it’s time to start thinking about creating your perfect outdoor space. More and more families are shifting their focus from the inside of their home to the outside. This has been a trend in warmer clients for a long time, but even here in Snowmageddon, ahem, I mean Ontario, folks are wanting to make the absolute most of their outdoor living space for as long as they possibly can. Custom lighting is absolutely the way to do that.
When you start thinking about adding custom lighting to your outdoor space, you should first consider the purpose of the lighting. Do you want to draw attention to a specific element in your outdoor space, such as a particular plant or tree? If you’re looking to focus on an element such as this, uplighting is something you should consider. Uplighting is perfect for showcasing this type of element as you can easily light the entire object from the ground up, as opposed to having a light beside the object, only lighting a portion of it.
Another benefit of uplighting is that is it very discreet. All of the wiring is run under ground, and the fixture itself is small and low to the ground so the focus is really on the element you are lighting, and not on the fixture itself.
If you are looking to illuminate a walkway or stairway, there are so many fabulous, energy saving options available for this type of lighting. The best part about this type of lighting is you are not limited to lights that you stick into the ground on a stake that can look inexpensive and untidy. If you’re lighting a stairway for example, small lights installed on the riser or the stringer can beautifully and subtly light each stair, providing a safety feature so you and your family can easily navigate the stairs when it’s dark, while at the same time giving your space a high-end, fashionable look.

When you are choosing the light fixtures for your outdoor space, we do not recommend sacrificing quality for cost. Outdoor lighting should be seen as an investment. When you invest in quality outdoor lighting, you can be assured that it will withstand the test of time and the elements.
Outdoor lighting will certainly help to take your outdoor space to the next level, but you don’t want to take your energy bill to the next level too. To prevent this, we can integrate your outdoor lighting with the Lutron Caseta home control system. Using your smart phone and/or tablet and the free Lutron App, we can easily program your Caseta home control system to turn your lights on at dusk, and then off at dawn. This program will automatically adjust as the days become shorter, preventing your lights from coming on unnecessarily. We can also easily program your outdoor lights to come on and off at a specific time of night/day. There is also the option of geofencing. With this option, we can program your outdoor lighting to come on when you get within a certain distance of your home. This is an especially fabulous feature to use when you’re driving home at night. Having your outside lights come on as you approach your house allows you to easily navigate the path to your entry point and provides you with added security as you can clearly see your entryway and your keys to let yourself in.
No matter the type of lighting you choose to install in your outdoor space, you must make sure that all fixtures are installed according to the Ontario Electrical Code. For example, fixtures within a certain distance of water, (i.e. a hot tub) must be GFCI protected. When you are designing your lighting plan for you outdoor space, we can help you figure out if your fixtures requires GFCI protection or not. This can all be done during your free onsite estimate.
If you would like help designing the lighting plan to help create your perfect outdoor space, we would be more than happy to set up a free onsite consultation to discuss your plans. You can contact our office via email, firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 519-362-5598. We can’t wait to help you and your family create your perfect outdoor living space!
Limiting your screen time doesn't mean you need to limit your options when it comes to home control.
Stop what you're doing and look around. If you're not alone, I can almost guarantee someone around you is looking at a screen. A smartphone screen, a tablet screen, a computer screen, or a television screen. Even if you are alone, don't look now, but you're looking at a screen. We spend so much time in front of screens that we don't even notice it anymore. For me it's become second nature. I sit down in a waiting room, as a passenger in a vehicle, waiting in a line at a store, even a really short line...I pull out my smartphone...it's ridiculous and I for one am tired of it.
When I am staring at a screen it means that I am not engaging with those around me. It means I am not engaging with the world around me. I am missing things and I don't like it. So, I, and many like me, have started to actively try to limit our screen time. I recently read a Facebook post, (ironic right?!) where a mom and business owner said she would be unreachable that evening because she was putting her phone in a drawer. That's right. She was not just putting her phone down, not just turning it face down on the counter, not just walking away from it; she was putting her phone in a drawer so that she could spend time engaging with her family. I loved this! Not only did this decision confront the harsh reality that's it's second nature to just pick up your screen and withdraw, but it provided a solution. It does sadden me somewhat that we have to go to this extent to do something that should come so naturally, but much to my chagrin, (I really hate this expression) it is what it is. This is the world we live in today, and to some extent you do have to go along with it if you don't want to get left behind.
So, I've told you that I myself spend too much time in front of a screen and I'm trying to change that. But, if you've read any of my social media posts or blog posts, you know I love technology and am especially passionate about home control. Home control is easy and anything that makes my life easier, well, as they say, "Shut up and take my money!" But, does this mean I have to abandon my home control system? I'm all for trying to return to a simpler time before screens took over so much of our lives, but I do love the convenience they can bring, especially when it comes to controlling my lights and music.

So, does no screen mean no home control? The answer is no. If you're trying to rely on screens less, you can still control your music, lighting, temperature and shades with a simple and discreet remote. Its nothing fancy, but once in while, that's just what I need; something to quickly get the job done, sans screen, so I can get back to engaging with those around me. It's a small step in the direction of lessening my screen time without leaving the technology of convenience behind, and it's one I'm happy to be making.
Diapers, mobile, onsies, home control system? Yes, you read that right. Every new parent should have a home control system on their list of must have items for baby’s arrival. Why? Simple. Home control simplifies and if there’s one thing a new parent desires it’s simplicity.
As a relatively new mom, I remember all too well one of the most challenging, complex tasks of having a new baby…getting them to sleep. The endless bouncing, dancing and rocking, and then that magical moment when they fall asleep. What a beautiful moment. That is until I would realize the shades were open from that morning and I was trapped in the rocking chair under my sleeping baby. If you’re a parent, you understand why I was panicking at this point. You never move with a sleeping baby in your arms, no matter what. Inevitably though, the sun coming through the window would make its way over my peacefully sleeping baby and he would stir, and then wake, and the process to get him to sleep would start all over again.
How does one simplify this problem? A home control system will allow you to control your shades from your smart phone, tablet or remote. So when your little one falls asleep in your arms, you need not panic. Simply close the shades with the touch of a button. The shades close, virtually silently, and your little one is none the wiser.

Another problem I often ran into was having my little one fall asleep in my arms with his bedside lamp on. With home control you can easily shut off the lamp without leaving your chair. Simple.

The temperature of the house, and more importantly the temperature of my son’s room, was always a hot topic in our house (no pun intended!) Even now that my son is growing up, I am famous for getting comfortable and then realizing I’m too hot or too cold. Then I sit there, comfortable in my spot but too hot/too cold and debate with myself. Do I get up and adjust the temperature, or continue to be uncomfortable? Inevitably I decide on the only logical option…I ask my husband to go and adjust the temperature for me. J With home control though, I can avoid his grumbling by just adjusting the temperature using the app on my phone. Simple.
